Jaime Duque Park is one of the forgotten gems for travelers visiting Bogotá Colombia. This park brings together the theme of Disney World’s Epcot Center in Florida with activities of a summer camp focused on the study of the environment and conservation.

Jaime Duque Park is a family-oriented theme and amusement park located on the outskirts of Bogotá, Colombia in the municipality of Tocancipá. The park opened on February 27, 1983 and founded Jaime Duque Grisales, who had been the chief pilot at Avianca Airlines.

The park is located about 120 minutes north of the El Dorado International Airport of Bogotá.

Jaime Duque, who traveled the world as a pilot, wanted to share his experience with the people of Colombia who could not afford to travel. He built the park so Colombians could experience and learn about the history and diversity of cultures of the world. In addition, the park’s proceeds are donated to help institutions serving families in the community.

The 70 acre park contains a replica of the Taj Mahal of India, and each of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World, including the Pyramids of Egypt, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and Moscow’s Red Square. There is a zoo and two museums: the “Outfits of the World” fashion museum and the “Museum of Mankind in the Universe,” featuring a collection of statues explaining important moments in human history.

In addition to an onsite monorail and a large performance venue that attracts musical groups from around the world, there is an educational program called the Wakatá Bio-Park. This program, under the supervision of La Salle University, is dedicated to conservation activities and environmental study. It trains students in animal management of wild species and serves as a foster home for animals that have been rescued.
